The above are just taxes on fuel — don't forget there are a plethora of other stealth taxes imposed upon drivers:

• The government are planning to increase Vehicle Excise Duty too.
• VAT on the cost of new cars and new & used commercial vehicles (an average of £2,000 every time a vehicle is purchased).
• VAT on servicing and parts
• Road tolls
• Congestion charging such as the London Congestion Charge
• Extortionate parking charges and fines
• First registration fee
• Many speed cameras are used to raise revenue rather than reduce accidents.
• SORN - A bureaucracy imposed on drivers in the hope that many will simply forget, allowing fines to be extorted.

Even if you don't drive a car these taxes affect you because they increase costs for all businesses that have to be passed on to customers.
