Legal Status of the ABD
"The Association of British Drivers" is the sole operating name of "Pro-Motor Ltd", a not-for-profit company limited by Guarantee and registered in England under number 2945728. Registered office: 4 King Square, Bridgwater, Somerset, TA6 3YF
("Pro-Motor" is simply the legal name of the ABD. The organization was originally going to call itself "Pro-Motor", but decided instead to adopt the name "The Association of British Drivers".)
To represent and promote the interests of car owners and drivers, motor cyclists and users of other forms of private and commercial motorised vehicles,
To support better vehicle design and safety.
To support higher standards of motor vehicle design, efficiency, economy, performance and improved emissions standards.
To support better standards of driver training.
To monitor road construction and maintenance, including spending levels, levels of taxation and the cost of motoring generally.
To monitor road traffic legislation, enforcement and penalties.
The ABD is run entirely on a voluntary basis by its members.
