Doncaster is a Unitary Authority within the former county of South Yorkshire.
Political Correctness Free Town
Will Doncaster become the first town in Britain to abolish political correctness?
It's beginning to look that way after Doncaster's new mayor, Peter Davies, spoke out against much of the politically correct madness that strangles society.
Davies is deeply sceptical of 'green claptrap', and wants more traffic because it will boost business. He has announced plans for more parking spaces and an end to the town`s stupid bus-only routes, commenting “Like it or not, we live in the age of the car.”.
On climate change, he said:
“I'm not green and I'm not conned by global warming.”
Policing Goes Downhill
In stark contrast to the sensible comments made on speed cameras by the former Chief Constable of South Yorkshire — Mike Hedges, the new incumbent is clearly another speed camera zealot.
Meredydd Hughes has been caught twice by speed cameras, once in Sheffield and once in South Wales, yet despite being doubtless sure that he wasn't driving in a dangerous manner, he still thinks speed cameras are a good idea, and even wants hidden cameras re-introduced. Let's hope the brainless idiot gets caught twice more and banned — maybe the penny will finally drop.
