Traffic Law Enforcement Should be Problem Led; Not Europe Led
Thames Valley Police have announced that they are increasing speed enforcement for this week as part of a Europe wide clamp down on speeding.
ABD Chairman Brian Gregory comments:
“Traffic law enforcement should be targeted at issues where and when there is a specific need. Cracking down on one issue because the European Police say so is not sensible and effective policing.

We urge other forces to ignore such gimmicks and focus instead on the real causes of road accidents. Exceeding a speed limit, while illegal, does not of itself cause accidents. Too high a speed for the conditions is dangerous, regardless of the speed limit, and most accidents are due to poor judgement or inattention. These are the issues the police should be concentrating on.”
