ABD - Schools

The ABD has an interest in schools for three reasons:

Road Safety
It is prudent for drivers to take extra care outside schools at times children are going to, or coming from, school.
Sometimes a lower speed limit outside schools is appropriate at these times. However, we deplore lower limits being imposed 24 hours a day when this is clearly not necessary, such limits incite contempt for speed limits which may have consequences elsewhere.
Education
Impressionable young minds must only be taught established facts, not political doctrine.
We have particular concerns about the teaching of environmental ideology as fact, and manipulating children for political purposes (for example by persuading them to campaign for lower speed limits).
Training
It is important for schools to ensure that children have a sound understanding of road safety, from when they are old enough to walk, through when they old enough to cycle, to when they are nearly ready to begin learning to drive.
